Little Girl: I'm nervous and feeling good.

Yuna: Aren't you guys gonna hurry up?

Y: [Moves toward Min-Jung and tries to strangle her ] Are you chatting right now?

Y: Is that the best you can do?

Y: Do you all get what I'm saying?

(0:19)

Y: Haha[t]…

(0:26)

Y: It's cold, yes?

(0:30)

Y: Don't just do it halfheartedly. If you place the center [of weight?] and push, you will gain speed without having to give extra pushes. Do you all get what I'm saying?

(0:44)

Y: [Gives a demonstration of bad example of skating] This…(laughter)…you won't gain speed and it looks weird.

(0:55)

Y: You have to draw a little circle [on ice] while you push.

(0:57)

Y: You guys to have push it all the way to the end. Just like short-track skating.

(1:03)

Y: While you're pushing it, don't get up. (=don't raise your upper body)

(1:07)

Y: [With a sweet and soothing tone] Where's your center? Right side.

(1:14)

Y: [With a slightly menacing tone] Aren't you guys gonna hurry up? [laughter]

Y: [Scary but comical tone] Aren't you guys gonna hurry up? [Her words are not vulgar at all in Korean but the closest meaning in English translation would be “Move your a~~!!”]

Y: Is that the best you can do? [More literal translation: Are you guys doing halfheartedly right now?!]

(1:28)

Y: That's better. Good!

(1:31)

Y: You guys have gotten little better but…there's still a lot of problems. [=there's still a lot of work to be done.]

(1:37)

Y: I'm not doing this because of this event [=a master class], but I really want to fix this issue with you guys–young Korean skaters.

(1:42)

Y: It's okay to practice by yourself, but I suggest you watch and imitate skaters who have great skating skills. I, too…[hands on mike] watched a lot of Mao's skating and followed them…Got it?

(1:58)

Everyone: Thank you [for your work]!

(2:04)

Y: Yes, coaching is a hard work.

Lee HoJung: It was nice to see her again. She gave us detailed instructions point by point…

Kim HaeJin: I hope to walk on [=follow] the path she has blazed for us.

Y: I hope they remember what I've told them and do well. Hopefully there will be more opportunities like this so that I can pass on my knowledge and give them help.

Interviewer: Once again, I'm with the Olympic Champion Kim Yuna.

Yuna: [gleeful laughter]

I: What were your reactions when you stood on the podium with the medal around your neck as the national anthem played?

Y: Umm…first…it's probably because I still couldn't believe it…I cried when I heard the national anthem in the last World Championship…and although I shed tears toward the end [of the anthem] this time [as well]…well…it was a very different feeling…so…even now, I still can't believe it…and this…the fact that I've finally put this big burden down…I feel so relieved and, at the same, it's unbelievable.

I: You referred to it as “the burden”…what kind of burden…what kind of pressure was it? Could you describe it?

Y: Well…I don't think this burden was not just about the pressure…this is the most important competition for me as an athlete…and since this was the dream I really wanted to achieve it…I've thought a lot of times wanting to just get it out of the way…but first…yes, I've become the Olympic Champion, but I'm feeling so much more relieved that it's all over.

I: You have achieved your dream after 13 years of skating career. If you look back, which moment was most difficult to you?

Y: The most difficult moment? Throughout my 13 years of skating career, I can't pinpoint exactly which moment was the most difficult. For the most part, it's the memories of hardship [that constitutes most of my memory] …happy moments were only there for a short while…um…still…I believe those hard days have made me what I'm today.

I: Lastly, I'm sure you have a lot of people in mind to thank. Could you say a few words of thanks to them?

Y: First of all, my family…dad, mom, my sister…especially my mom who always have helped and stood by me from the side…I thank you for that…and my dad and sister…I thank you so much. Um…and all the people around me. Coach Brian Orser, Tracy Wilson, and David Wilson…and all the people who have helped me in Toronto…my physio-therapist who looks after my health…and my agent…friends…so many people…there are too many people! I know this sounds like a celebrity's speech at awards! [laughter] But…I thank you everyone.

I: Congratulations! Thank you.

[She walks away.]
